Looking for something different but still want to enjoy Dubai’s dazzling skyline?
While the Burj Khalifa may be the most famous viewpoint, Dubai has many other options for those who want an alternative with smaller queues, fewer crowds or just something different to do.
Alternative Observation Decks in Dubai
If you still want an Observation deck to take in the magnificent views of the skylines of Dubai, there are many choices located through out the city.
1) Address Sky View in Downtown Dubai
Address Sky View in Downtown Dubai is an awesome spot if you’re looking for amazing city views with a smaller crowd compared to At The Top in the Burj Khalifa.
The hotel’s Sky Deck, connects between its 55 and 60 floor towers, gives you stunning panoramic views of the Burj Khalifa and Downtown Dubai skyline.
This is also where the glass slide is that you’ve likely seen all over social media! There can be a bit of a queue for the slide but it’s definitely worth the wait for a unique experience so high up.
*Be aware you must be over 30kg and 120 cm to use the glass slide, so it’s only suitable for older children and adults.
“Enjoyed the Sky Views more than the Burj Khalifa as the views were better and it was less busy. Burj Khalifa was nice however, enjoyed seeing the city in the distance. Only thing I’d recommend is getting skip the line tickets as it can take ages to get out.”

If you’re an even bigger thrill seeker, you can even do a Sky Walk in a harness on the outside of Sky Views.

2) Dubai Frame in Zabeel Park
This massive rectangular structure, located in Zabeel Park, gives you the perfect “picture frame” view between both old and new Dubai. The Dubai Frame observation deck runs across the top part of the frame at 150 metres high.
On the new Dubai side you’ll see the Burj Khalifa and Downtown Dubai while the Old Dubai side looks over Bur Dubai and Dubai Creek.
At the top, you’ll walk across a glass-floored sky bridge and can even jump on the reactive screens also dotted along the floor. Once you’re finished on the top floor, you can head down to see the exhibits that take you through Dubai’s transformation, from a small fishing village to the futuristic metropolis it is today.
Insider tip – If you have a baby, under 1 and can’t walk yet, then I don’t recommend the Frame as they don’t allow prams (strollers). Also children aren’t allowed to crawl due to safety, as the crowds may accidentally step on the child. If you do go with a baby, then I highly recommend to make sure you take a baby carrier with you!

3) The Viewing Point at Dubai Creek
For a slightly different view of the city, overlooking the water with Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid library and Dubai Festival City on the opposite side. This newer option opened in 2023.
It’s not very high but it is a unique viewing deck that reaches out over the water.
One of the best parts about this attraction is that it’s free.
4) The View at Palm Jumeirah
Located on the 52nd floor of The Palm Tower, this observation deck gives you a full 360-degree view of Dubai’s iconic palm-shaped island with the Dubai Marina skyline in the distance.
Whether it’s day or night, both views are incredible and I particularly recommend to go just before sunrise so you’ll get to enjoy both. Choose to view from inside through floor-to-ceiling windows or head out to the outdoor terrace.
There’s a cafe located at the top along with an interactive exhibit that shows the history and design of Palm Jumeirah, for those curious about how this unique island came to life.

5) The Dubai Balloon at Atlantis
This is definitely the most unique option on the list! As it’s Dubai’s only tethered hot-air balloon, located inside Atlantis’ Aquaventure Waterpark!
After a quick safety briefing, you’ll get to ascend to 300 m up the air (984 ft) and enjoy breathtaking, 360-degree views of Dubai’s skyline from the bottom of Palm Jumeirah.
You’ll also see Dubai Marina and the Burj Al Arab in the distance. The 10 minute flight will let you enjoy the fresh air and famous landmarks from above. However it is one of the most expensive options on the list!
After you can choose from shopping to buy a few souvenirs or enjoy refreshments in the lounge.

6) Aura Skypool
In the same location at The View at Palm Jumeirah, if you’d rather have an activity with a view or spend the day by the pool relaxing with a view then Aura Skypool is the perfect option for you.
Offering incredible views, this is the world’s highest 360-degree infinity pool on the 50th floor of The Palm Tower. You’ll see the iconic Dubai Marina Skyline and Palm Jumeirah sprawling out in front of you.
One of the best spots for a swim in the whole of Dubai!
The stylish pool deck has cozy loungers, a relaxed vibe, and a delicious selection of snacks and cocktails, making it perfect for a day of luxury combined relaxation.
7) Dine at a roof top restaurant
For a spectacular dining experience with views to rival the Burj Khalifa, you can easily try one of Dubai’s many rooftop restaurants instead.
The city certainly isn’t short of elevated spots in their many many skyscrapers with breathtaking views of the skyline of your choice. Choose from a Dubai Marina Skyline, Dubai Creek View or the classic of Downtown Dubai.
You’ll get to not only enjoy a delicious meal but your view will be completely free to go with it!
Popular spots in the city include CÉ LA VI, Sushi Samba and Pure Sky Lounge. So if you’re wanting a sophisticated, memorable evening with views and ambiance without needing to queue. This is the best option.
There are many amazing eateries across the whole of Dubai with views, I have a full list of my most recommended Dubai best restaurants with a view.
8) Afternoon tea at At.Mosphere
If you still want to visit the Burj Khalifa but don’t want to go to At The Top observation deck, this fine dining restaurant and luxury lounge is a great alternative. This is truly luxury experience and an alternative to the VIP lounge at At The Top, Burj Khalifa.
Served in the lounge side, between 12:30 pm and 4:30 pm.
There are several different options for afternoon tea, you can have afternoon tea with a choice of 3 different main meals or a traditional afternoon tea with pastries and lighter bites. You can also choose with or without champagne.
*Children must be over 5 for the afternoon tea

Alternatives in Downtown Dubai around The Burj Khalifa
9) Watch Dubai Fountain
If heights aren’t your thing but you still want a stunning view in Dubai, the Dubai Fountain is also a fantastic choice.
Located at the base of the Burj Khalifa on the Burj Lake, this choreographed fountain show is one of the largest in the world. Every evening, the fountains come alive with light, music, and water jets that shoot up to 140 meters for a mesmerizing display.
It’s a great way to experience the excitement of Downtown Dubai with your feet still firmly on the ground! It’s also completely free to watch!
For my full guide to watching the Dubai Fountain.
10) Walk along Dubai Fountain Boardwalk
For a little bit extra you can enjoy an even more private and up close view of the Dubai Fountain with the Fountain Boardwalk.
The floating platform stretches 272 meters along the Burj Lake, placing you just 9 meters from the fountain’s dazzling water, light, and music show. It’s a great way to not only avoid the crowds but have a fully immersive experience of the fountains by being so close.
11) Ride an Abra across Dubai Fountain lake
Taking an abra ride across Burj Lake is a fantastic way to experience Downtown Dubai’s sights from a whole new angle! These traditional wooden boats glide along the lake, offering up-close views of the Burj Khalifa, Souk Al Bahar, and the Dubai Fountain.
As you sail, you’ll have a front-row seat to the fountain’s mesmerizing water and light show, creating a magical experience, especially in the evening.
It’s an affordable way to enjoy the Burj Khalifa from the ground while still having a unique experience.
