Over recent years, Dubai’s December weather has been remarkably consistent with warm sunny days, light winds and very little rain. The odd shower does pop up occasionally, usually brief and rarely enough to disrupt plans.

Fog can appear on early mornings in December, but typically clears well before midday. Winds are generally light throughout the month, definitely more of a pleasant breeze than anything disruptive which makes being outside in the daytime genuinely lovely.

December temperatures can range from 29 °C (84 °F) to 23 °C (73 °F). However the odd day can get cooler, sometimes as low as 20°C (68°F), so it’s worth packing a jacket if you’re used to warmer weather. Overall, though Dubai is beautifully warm and sunny.

Is December a good time to go to Dubai?

YES! December is one of the best times all year to visit Dubai excellent time to visit Dubai, both for its pleasant temperature and the ability to do a plethora of outdoor activities during this month. Beaches, outdoor markets, rooftop dining, evening walks along the Marina… The winter months are when Dubai truly comes into its own.

t’s also a brilliant time to visit if you’re looking for a bit of festive spirit as Dubai goes all out for Christmas. The decorations, events and celebrations across the city are genuinely impressive.

Overall, temperatures are warm and comfortable, humidity is low so it never feels sticky, rain is extremely unlikely, and there’s usually a lovely gentle breeze that makes wandering around the souqs, parks and beaches an absolute pleasure. It really is Dubai at its best.

Can we swim in Dubai in December?

Absolutely yes, you can swim in Dubai during December as the waters remain pleasant and warm between 24-28°C (75-82°F) but it can be a little bit chilly if you’re not in the sun directly. It will feel cooler than a hotel or resort swimming pool, as they are usually heated to 30 °C (86 °F).

If you’re planning to head to the beach, it’s definitely worth checking conditions before you head out. The odd windy day can make the water a little choppy.

Dubai tends to play it pretty safe, so you’ll find red flags not allowing swimming in the sea if the water is choppy. After sunbathing, the sea is lovely and refreshing, but it might not always be possible and lifeguards are strict about enforcing no swimming on those days.

If you plan to go to the mountains or desert at night, then taking a jumper or jacket is best as it is colder than in the city. You’ll mostly wear light and comfortable clothing during December.
